CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Tomorrow could be a history-making day for the Islanders’ women's basketball team.

The Islanders can claim their first outright conference championship as they host Houston Baptist at 1 p.m. at the American Bank Center.

If you can’t make it to the game, catch all of the action on our sister station KDF-TV or streamed live on KRISTV.com.

Coach Royce Chadwick has won titles at other schools, but says winning with the Islanders would be extra special.

“This is going to be for these young ladies, this is for our girls, our Islander family and it feels like for the for the first,” Chadwick said. “Every time you have a chance to win a championship, it's like you have never won one before so I am very excited for these girls.

“Let's go see if we can get the job done and get the co (co-champions) off of our rings so when we get our rings they don't say co-champions.”

The Javelina men follow at 3:30 p.m. against Houston Baptist. A victory boosts them into the conference post-season tournament.
