CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Islanders look to get back on the winning track Saturday when they play host to Abilene Christian at the American Bank Center.

They are coming off a 75-67 home loss to Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday night, dropping them to 6-8 in Southland Conference play.

The women also play at home tomorrow against ACU, so it will be doubleheader starting with the women at 1 p.m. Both games will be shown on our sister station KDF.

It will also be Faith and Family Day so all you have to do is wear your church-affiliated shirt and you get into both games for $6.

“We are a big part of this community,” Islanders men’s coach Willis Wilson said. “When you look around the city. you see more and more Islander gear and we want to be part of this community.

“And the invitation to have Faith and Family Day is a big deal for our program and the university. Hopefully, it's also a big deal for our community.

“We have kids in our program that are grounded in their faith and really live it every day. I think we put a quality product on the court and hoping that people will come out and take advantage of the opportunity to come together as a community.”

It's a big game because the Islanders find themselves in the middle of the pack when it comes to the conference standings.

They are hoping to get a high seed in the post season conference tournament with a strong finish.
