Islander women get homecoming win

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders women's basketball team defeated the University of the Incarnate Word on homecoming 56-50.

With the win, the Islanders improve to 21-7 overall and are now 12-1 at home this season. They have also won 13 out of their last 14 games and are currently competing for first place in the conference.

They are tied for first with Stephen F. Austin; each team has a 15-3 conference record.

Dalesia Booth led the way with 18 points while Dae Dae Evans had 11.

The Islanders will close out the regular season next week with a Wednesday night contest at Sam Houston State and then return home for their last game when they host Houston Baptist at the American Bank Center.
