CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Islanders men's basketball team defeated Houston Baptist today 84-78, giving the Islanders a birth to the 2020 Southland Conference tournament.
The Islanders are now the 8th and final team in the tournament and will face Northwestern State in the first round next week in Katy, Texas.
Freshman Jordan Hairston led the Islanders in scoring with 20 points followed by junior Myles Smith who scored 18 points.
With the birth to the conference tournament, it marks the 7th consecutive season the Islanders have made the bracket.
