Islanders women hoop team will play 10 games at Dugan Center and five at American Bank Center

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi has announced the Islanders' 2019-20 women's basketball schedule. The slate includes 15 total home games including 10 to be played on campus in the Dugan Wellness Center and five downtown at the America Bank Center.

The Islanders, who reached the championship game of the Southland Tournament last season, will be participating in the 2019 Preseason WNIT for the first time in program history this season. In the first round matchup, the Islanders hook up with Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo., on Nov. 8. The winner of that game will meet the winner of Boise State and Portland State. The Preseason WNIT includes a three-game guarantee.

"We are so very excited to open the season in the most prestigious pre season division one tournament in the nation," Texas A&M-Corpus Christi coach Royce Chadwick said. "It will be great exposure for our Island University program."

The 2019-20 season begins on Nov. 1 against St. Edward's University at 7 p.m. at the American Bank Center. On Nov. 5, the Islanders will take on the University of St. Thomas at 7 p.m in the Dugan Wellness Center.

After the WNIT, the first installment of the South Texas Showdown, presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union, takes place on Nov. 23 at the Dugan Wellness Center against Texas-Rio Grande Valley. The second game of the series is scheduled for Dec. 12, in Edinburg.

The Islanders will host Huston Tillotson on Nov. 26 and will face Texas State in San Marcos on Nov. 30. Texas Wesleyan visits the Dugan Wellness Center at 1 p.m. on Dec. 7.

The final non-conference game of the season takes place on Dec. 29, as the Islanders battle Texas A&M in College Station.

The home Southland Conference schedule includes Nicholls (Dec. 18), Central Arkansas (Dec. 21), Stephen F. Austin (Jan. 8), Lamar University (Jan. 18), Sam Houston State (Jan. 29), Abilene Christian (Feb. 15), Southeastern Louisiana (Feb. 19), New Orleans (Feb. 26), Incarnate Word (Feb. 29) and Houston Baptist (March 7).

The Islanders will play road conference games at Northwestern State (Jan. 2), Southeastern Louisiana (Jan. 4), Abilene Christian (Jan. 11), New Orleans (Jan. 22), Incarnate Word (Jan. 25), Houston Baptist (Feb. 1), McNeese State (Feb. 5), Stephen F. Austin (Feb. 12), Lamar (Feb. 22) and Sam Houston State (March 4).
