CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It's Homecoming weekend for the Islanders and they’ve got a couple of really big games on tap.

The men will play host to UIW at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow at the ABC.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is 7-10 in conference play. Only the top eight teams in the Southland Conference qualify for the postseason tournament. And right now, the Islanders are sitting in the No. 9 spot.

So, they need to move up at least one spot.

They have three regular season games remaining. Al are at home, so there’s still a chance starting tomorrow against the Cardinals.

“It's such a cliche but it is so true,” Islanders coach Willis Wilson said. “We control our own destiny and we just have to take care of our business.

“Winning basketball games is what gets us to where we need to be. We get three in a row here at home and I like our chances. Our guys are playing well, the guys played a really good game recently at New Orleans and it just seems like we are pulling together and making strides that we need to make at this time of the year.”

The Islander women will also play tomorrow, playing host to UIW at 1 p.m.

There’s a ton of excitement surrounding them.

They have fought their way up in the conference standings and now are tied for first place with Stephen F. Austin at 14-3 in Southland Conference play.

The Islanders are on a roll right now.

So far, everything is going their way including a comeback win over New Orleans on Wednesday..

The Islanders have won 11 of their last 13 games..

And with just three regular season games left, a lot can still happen..

Two of those are at home where the Islanders have lost just one game all season.

They have never won a conference championship in women's basketball.

This could finally be their year.
