CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Two local high school football programs were listed in Dave Campbell Texas Football's preseason Top 10 rankings for Class 4A Division I.
The Calallen Wildcats were ranked fourth and Miller Bucs are seventh in the preseason poll for the state's prime high school football preseason magazine.
Calallen is a regular in this preseason poll because of the historic dominance of Coach Phil Danaher's program.
But it is believed to be Miller's first preseason ranking by Dave Campbell since 1963. The Bucs started that season No. 10 and then went on to reach the title game in what was then the UIL's largest classification. They lost to Garland that year, finishing the season 13-2.
