CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It's going to be a really tough battle all the way down to the wire in District 30-5A.
The day began with Miller, Veterans Memorial and Ray all still undefeated in district play
Miller squared off today against Port Lavaca Calhoun.
The Bucs jumped out to a 17-point halftime lead thanks to plays like this from Johnny Sandoval.
But remember, the Bucs almost blew a 19-point lead the other day to Victoria West, so it’s not surprising that Coach Maurice Bastian was intent on keeping his team focused this afternoon.
And that’s exactly what his team did. The Bucs stretched their lead to 28 points heading into the fourth quarter as they cruised to an 82-52 victory. Senior point guard Bryan Luis scored a game-high 14 points to lead a balanced Miller attack that featured 13 players who scored.
The Bucs improve to 4-0 in district play and maintain their share of first place.
