Veterans Memorial and Forney left everything on the field as both teams fought hard for a shot at the state baseball title on Thursday evening.

Over in Round Rock, Veterans Memorial’s Eagles faced Forney’s Jackrabbits at the UIL 5A State Semifinals.

It was a tough fight in the first inning, with neither team coming out with any numbers on the board. That trend continued as an intense pitcher’s duel saw neither team scoring all the way through the 5th inning.

Then, at the top of the 6th, Forney had a fantastic play, scoring three runs off of one hit and taking the lead 3-0. Vets Memorial answered in the bottom of the 6th with a run of their own, but still trailed as the inning drew to a close.

Forney struck out in the top of the 7th, putting everything on the line in the bottom of the inning. But despite a tough fight from Vets Memorial, they managed to keep their lead and take the win.

With the win, Forney advances to the next round. For the Eagles, however, the season has come to an end.
