Santa Gertrudis has taken the state championship title for girls softball after battling it out with Hughes Springs.
The Lady Lions started off the game strong with four runs in the 1st inning, giving the team a 4-0 lead until the 3rd, where they widened that gap to 5-0.

In the 4th, Hughes Springs fought back, but SGA kept their lead by pounding out another three runs to enter the 5th 8-1.

A tough fight continued all the way into the 6th, when the Lady Lions took the win with a final score of 8-3.
SGA takes the UIL 3A Girls Softball state title as a result.
