CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — We have reached Week 3 of the high school football season.

And, we will spotlight the high-flying Miller Bucs when they play host to Victoria East Friday night at Buc Stadium in our Friday Night Fever Marquee Matchup.

The Bucs are off to an incredible start at 2-0 and firing on all cylinders on both sides of the football.

On offense, no one has been able to stop them or even slow them down yet as they’ve outscored opponents 130-9..

Quarterback Andrew Body has has already thrown for more than 800 yards in just two games and he has three receivers ranked in the top four statistically in the area.

And the Buc defense is just as good, shutting out San Antonio Highlands and allowing just one touchdown to Sinton.

This runaway train may be impossible to stop on Friday night.

“We are not a selfish offense,” Miller wide receiver Adrian Lloyd said. “We grind everyday. We practice hard, no footballs can be dropped, no fumbles. Andrew Body does what he does, the receivers make great catches, our linebackers block the running backs, pick up big yards. We all stay on the same page.”

That mindset has spread to the defense, according to middle linebacker Jayshawn Trimble.

“Our defense is really playing good,” Trimble said. “We have allowed just seven points (on defense) so far. Just a bunch of three-and-outs and hope to do the same this week.”

Miller coach Justen Evans has been impressed with this team’s fast start.

“It's amazing,” Evans said. “These kids push each other in practice every single day. We are blessed with awesome kids and awesome community. We get a lot of support from our administration.

“Our kids are naturally gifted, they have some God-given ability and so with us as coaches, we are able to enhance those abilities. That's why you are seeing so much success.”

Our Friday Night Fever crew is looking forward to seeing this incredible hot team in person Friday night.
