CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — In August, I made a trip to a Refugio two-a-days practice for our preview story. As I left the Bobcats’ facility, Refugio coach Jason Herring looked at me, pointed and said "I'll see you in Dallas."

Well, was he ever spot on.

The Bobcats will be making their fifth Class 2A state title appearance in seven years as they seek their third title this decade.

This comes after their 29-21 triumph over San Augustine last night in an exciting, back and forth game that was settled by a huge red-zone defensive stop.

Refugio was led by two-way standout Ysiddro Mascorro, who accounted for 160 rushing yards and a touchdown. Receiver Antwaan Gross came up big on both sides of the ball with three carries, 38 yards and touchdown along with six receptions for 75 yards and had a pivotal interception that set up a Bobcat scoring drive. Now the Bobcats are 15-0 and are only a game away from their ultimate goal.

They will meet up with the 15-0 Post Bold Gold Antelopes at 7 p.m. Wednesday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. We’ll be there for all of the reports before and after the game.

The game broadcast will be shown on Fox Sports Southwest as part of their state championship programming next week.
