CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — We have a terrific Friday Night Fever Game of the Week lined up for this Friday night.

And it’s maybe one of the best matchups we will see this year.

Flour Bluff hooks up with Veterans Memorial at Cabaniss Field and it’s our marquee matchup.

After getting a bye last week, the Hornets finally open district play.

So you know they are excited to get back on the field.

They are 1-1 this season.

This is a team loaded with a lot of playmakers on both sides.

And playing in a very competitive district, the Hornets know it's important to get off to a rousing start against a Vets team that enters undefeated at 3-0 and 1-0 in district play.

Flour Bluff coach Chris Steinbruck knows he will hand his full against a very good Eagles team.

“We have to play Flour Bluff football,” Steinbruck said. “The only time we can give them the football is when we punt it. We cannot turn the ball over and win.

“That's what plagued us against Calallen two weeks ago. We must take care of the football and not give up the big play. I think that's going to be a big key for us defensively. We have to make them move the football methodically down the field and don't give up the big play because that's what they really feed off of.”

We can’t wait for this one as we’ll be reporting from Cabaniss Field Friday night at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
