Port Lavaca Calhoun will forfeit its 55-7 win over Alice on Friday because of using an ineligible player, Coyotes coach Kyle Atwood confirmed on Monday.

The Port Lavaca Wave first reported the forfeit of the game. It came because the Sandcrabs used a player who was ineligible to sit out the first half of the game after he was ejected in the second half of their game against Gregory-Portland on Sept. 27.

UIL rules indicate a player must sit out the first half of the next game of their team after an ejection. But Atwood said that Calhoun coaches had said they had received information he was eligible for the Alice game.

With the forfeit, Alice moves to 5-0 and keeps a share of the lead of District 15-5A Division II play at 2-0 with Calallen. Calhoun drops to 3-2, 1-1.
