The Corpus Christi IceRays have an opportunity to clinch their playoff spot tonight when they host the Topeka Pilots.
This is the last weekend series of the regular season for the IceRays and it will be Fan Appreciation Weekend at the American Bank Center. The Pilots are in 5th place in the South Division and still have a shot at making the playoffs. They would have to defeat the IceRays two games in a row in order for that to happen.
“It’s nice to control your own destiny,” IceRays Head Coach Ryan Cruthers said. “We just have to go out take care of business hopefully in front of a good crowd and extend our season.”
It is a unique situation for the team to be in; win tonight and they don’t have to worry about game two Saturday night. But a loss would make Saturday a winner take all affair at the American Bank Center.
If the IceRays win one of their two games this weekend, they will take on the first place Amarillo Bulls in the first round of the playoffs next weekend.
