HOUSTON — All-Star guard Russell Westbrook has been traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Houston Rockets for Chris Paul, first-round picks in 2024 and 2026 and pick swaps in 2021 and 2025, ESPN.com reports.
Westbrook's trade comes on the heels of the Thunder's trade of Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers last week.
His preferred destination was Houston, where he can reunite with former teammate and former MVP James Harden.
The Thunder made the playoffs in each of the three season when Westbrook and Harden played together in 2010, 2011 and 2012. In the final season, they made the NBA Finals before losing to LeBron James and the Miami Heat.
Oklahoma City general manager Sam Presti is stocking up on draft picks as he appears ready to dismantle the Thunder, who also traded power forward Jerami Grant earlier this week.
The Thunder have amassed eight first-round draft picks through 2026 along with four draft pick swaps.
