CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Rockport was listed No. 2 in a list of seven of the best fishing destinations for Labor Day weekend.
FishingBooker bills itself as the United States' largest website for booking fishing charters.
The list was based on a number of criteria such as user reviews, proximity to good fishing and major metropolitan areas and places with impressive plant and animal life.
The website said Rockport has an abundance water activities, and cited its variety of choice for anglers: the bays for redfish, trout, flounder, and sheepshead; or offshore fishing for tuna, mahi mahi, amberjack, and red snapper.
Other destinations include: Grand Haven, Mich.; Kent Island, MD; Astoria, Ore.; Point Pleasant, N.J.; Dana Point, Calif. and Gloucester, Mass.
