CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Parents, don't mistake pandemic EBT cards for junk mail.

West Oso ISD posted pictures online that show the card could easily be mistaken for junk mail and thrown away.

The pandemic EBT card is a free food system for kids. The card comes in a thin, generic envelope from Milwaukee and Wisconsin.

The card is a one-time payment of $285 for each child who previously received free or reduced price meals. It works the same way as snap benefits do.

Parents have until June 30 to apply for a card.
