Tomorrow is July 4th and the Corpus Christi Police Department wants to remind the community that it is illegal to shoot fireworks in city limits.
“Obviously our officers that are regularly patrolling will be vigilant for fireworks being discharged within the city limits,” says Lt. Michael Pena of CCPD. “Of course it is against city ordinance to possess or use fireworks within the city limits.”
Pena says if people want to watch fireworks, to leave it to the professionals.
The City of Corpus Christi will have their annual 4th of July celebration.
Kicking off with a family fun zone that begins at 3 p.m. at Water’s Edge Park.Followed by a parade down Shoreline starting promptly at 6 p.m.Fireworks on the Bay will light up the sky at 9:30 p.m.
Pena urges the community to plan accordingly if heading downtown for the festivities. Many roads will be blocked off beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday morning. You can keep up with CCPD’s Facebook Page here for any updates.
