CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Tuesday is National Pizza Day.
For centuries, pizza was primarily a dish enjoyed in Italy. But in the early 20th century, the first American-style pizza shops popped up in New York and New Jersey.
So just how popular is pizza? According to the National Association of Pizza Operators, about three billion pizzas are sold in the U.S. each year.
To celebrate National Pizza Day, House of Rock in Corpus Christi restaurant will be hosting its fifth annual National Pizza Day celebration on Tuesday.
You can redeem your choice of a free slice of pepperoni or cheese pizza by dining in or grab it curbside by showing them the free slice of pizza coupon on their Facebook page.
The giveaway hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
