CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — For the past 29 years, KRIS 6 has joined the United Way of the Coastal Bend and H-E-B to collect school supplies for those who can't afford them.
And if you still want to donate today is your last day to do so before the goods are distributed through Operation SOS for needy area students .
Some ways you can still help, when you check out at an area H-E-B store, look for the KRIS 6 tear pads and choose an amount that works for you.
You can also go online to donate or text SOS to 91-999 to make a donation via text message.
“It is so important because we have almost 60,000 children in our community who need help with some basic school supplies,” said Libby Averyt, president and CEO of the United Way of the Coastal Bend.”We are not talking about anything fancy, just paper, pens, glue sticks, and things like that. And we are only able to reach about 10,000 or 11,000 of those students.”
With your help, thousands of kids will start the school year off right.
And 100 percent of all the proceeds raised will go to purchase the school supplies needed.
