HOUSTON, TEXAS — A Texas deputy constable has died after authorities say he was accidentally shot by a sheriff's deputy.

It happened in the Sienna Plantation area of Missouri City Friday morning.

According to authorities, Caleb Rule was accidentally shot by a Fort Bend Sheriff's Office sheriff's deputy while they were responding to a call and in the process of clearing a home.

The deputy reportedly discharged his weapon after he thought there was a suspect in the house.

Rule was flown to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

He was a deputy with the Fort Bend Precinct 4 Constable's Office and had worked for the department for nine months.
