Gov. Greg Abbott has announced that recipients in 66 Texas counties who are a part of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will automatically have their benefits replaced after the Texas winter storm. Aransas, Duval, Jim Wells, Kenedy, Live Oak, Refugio and San Patricio counties are a part of the 66 approved for automatic replacement.

In a release, Abbott’s office explains that the 66 approved counties “met federal criteria for mass replacements of benefits based on the severity of storm impacts in their area.”

Many Texans lost food because of the mass power outages across the state, and Abbott says this replacement assures that “Texans affected by this storm can continue to put food on the table."

If you live in one of the 66 approved counties receiving automatic SNAP benefit replacement, you do not need to do anything further to receive the replacement benefits. If you do not live in one of the 66 counties, you can still apply for SNAP replacement by calling 2-1-1 and pressing option 2, or mail or fax this form to Texas Health and Human Services Commission, PO Box 149027, Austin, TX, 78714-9027, or faxed to 1-877-447-2839.
