LAREDO, Texas — The remains of 20-year-old Lance Corporal David Lee Espinoza arrived in Laredo Friday afternoon.
The Rio Bravo Native was one of 13 service members killed when two suicide bombers and gunmen attacked crowds of Afghans flocking to Kabul’s airport in late August.
Espinoza's family was there to receive the body when it arrived.
Among those who were then when his body arrived was Corpus Christi native Joe Elizondo.
"These young men are dedicated to the most important thing we have, our freedom," Elizondo said.
Organizers are setting up a hero’s welcome for the fallen marine.
Espinoza's funeral will be held this weekend.
