Texas student’s art to hang in the US capitol

“More Pecan Pie Please!,” will be displayed in the US Capitol building for an entire year.

Briana Hernandez, a student from Caprock High School in Amarillo, Texas, was chosen in the nationwide 2019 Congressional Art Competition.

“We had a lot of impressive artwork submitted by students from across our part of Texas this year,”  Congressman Mac Thornberry said in a post. “Briana’s entry shows a great deal of artistic talent and creative maturity. I am proud her artwork will represent our district in the U.S. Capitol building for the next year.”

13th Congressional District of Texas in the nationwide 2019 Congressional Art Competition.

The Congressional Institute sponsors the competition every spring since 1982.

According to their website, since its founding, “more than 650,000 high school students have participated.”
