BRYAN, Texas (AP) – Authorities searching for a missing 3-year-old have found a body buried in the backyard of a Bryan home where the child lived.

Bryan police aren’t identifying the remains found Friday night but say they’re consistent with the size of a young child. Police say the decomposing body has been sent for an autopsy. No charges have been filed yet in connection to the body’s discovery.

Police believe Rayven Shields was last seen in mid-June. Police began searching for her this week after her mother became uncooperative with a Child Protective Services investigation into her welfare.

The child’s mother, 35-year-old Virginia Ann Adams, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of interference with child custody. She remained jailed Sunday on $75,000 bond. Jail records didn’t list an attorney for her.
