BAYTOWN, Texas (KPRC) – A Baytown woman wanted on drug charges is now facing another felony after allegedly stabbing a police K-9.
Houston’s KPRC reports, Baytown Police went to a recreational vehicle on Monday to arrest Abigail Martinez on a felony drug charge.
Police say Martinez ignored their commands to come out of the vehicle, but instead stayed inside of the RV and hid under a blanket. That’s when she was told that a police K-9 was coming in.
“The K-9 quickly located the suspect in the back bedroom area. And when the K-9 went to approach the suspect, the suspect had a small piece of plastic, the handle to an eyebrow trimmer of some sort and jabbed at the dog striking the dog one time on each eye,” Baytown Police Lt. Steve Dorris said.
The attack left the K-9, known as Officer X, with puncture wounds near both eyes.
In addition to the original drug charges, Martinez is now facing a state jail felony charge for interfering with a police service dog.
Baytown Police say Officer X was back on duty today, training for his next assignment.
