Self esteem of teenagers affected by social media

CORPUS CHRISTI, Tx — Within the past two years, high school counselors have seen a large influence that social media has taken over their students. Kris 6 News spoke with a Calallen counselor, along with some students, to find out just how much.

Almost everyone is on social media. In many cases, it's the first thing people check when they wake up and the last thing they see before going to sleep.

But for teenagers, the pressure of social media can be overwhelming. Calallen ISD school counselor Erika Vasquez shares her experience with her students and the positive and negative effects social media can have on those still growing up.

She also has some tips for parents on how to make sure apps are a positive thing for their children. Hear more tonight on KRIS 6 News.
