The first Patriot Paddle was held here this morning.
Dozens of people brought their surfboards, kayaks and standup paddle boards to North Beach this morning.
Then, they all paddled out in the water with garlands and leis around their neck.
Typically, paddle out tributes like this are done by the surfing community.
A moment of silence is also held before a prayer is said.
A chance to honor fallen service members who paid the ultimate sacrifice in serving our country.
Today, we’ll speak to people who participated in the paddle out to talk about the significance of today's event.
And we’ll share their thoughts this evening on KRIS 6 News.
