CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — There was a much-anticipated grand opening early this morning in Calallen and the new business is already getting ringing endorsements.

While most of us were still asleep, dozens of people were chowing down at the city's newest Chick-fil-A.

They opened their doors at 6:30 a.m. Thursday and it didn't take long for the new franchise on the 13000 block of Northwest Boulevard to fill up.

Some of these customers had been camped out for 12 hours.

And what motivated them to do that?

“We all love Chick-fil-A!,” customer Monica Estraca said. “Woo hoo!”

Well, there’s that and, of course, free Chick-fil-A meals for a year for the first 100 people in line.

But not everybody came for the sandwiches.

There were more than a few who just wanted to take a selfie with Chick-fil-A’s Mister Cow.
