WASHINGTON, D.C. — Protests are planned in Washington on Wednesday in a series of marches that are expected to attract large numbers of President Donald Trump's supporters.

These rallies are set to coincide with the Congress vote set to certify the Electoral College voters from the November presidential elections that will declare President-elect Joe Biden the winner of the election. But groups supporting Trump have said they will descend on the capital to protest the vote and attempt to pressure lawmakers into voting against certifying the results.

Trump has amplified rhetoric fore these protests, calling for his supporters to descend on the White House Ellipse for the #MarchForTrump and other rallies.

Several conservative media pages and other groups dedicated to the "stopthesteal" campaign are promoting at least four rallies, USA Today reports. The National Park Service has said that at least three have been awarded permits to rally on federal properties.

Several similar Trump rallies have taken place across the Coastal Bend since the Nov. 3 election. We're curious if any Trump supporters will be among the group heading for Washington for Wednesday's rallies.
