San Antonio officials announced Friday morning that Fiesta 2020 has been postponed.

The annual event was scheduled to run April 16-26. It has been rescheduled for Nov. 5-15.

The postponement affects all official Fiesta events, including Tejano Fan Fair, which was scheduled for this weekend.

San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg said the measure was taken to protect public health.

San Antonio announced its first positive case of travel-related COVID-19 and declared a public health emergency on Friday morning.

The declaration triggers a seven-day ban on public gatherings of 500 people or more.
