CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — When President-elect Joe Biden moves into the White House, he’ll bring with him several pets.

They include Major, a German shepherd, who will be the first shelter dog to live in the White House.

Volunteers at shelters here in Texas say they hope this will increase adoptions locally.

"I think that is something that hopefully other folks in the United States will see,” one shelter volunteer said. “You know, there's wonderful dogs available that you can get in shelters."

Locally, you can find pets available for adoption at the City of Corpus Christi Animal Care Center and from the Gulf Coast Humane Society.

Both have pets that are ready to change your life if you adopt them.
