It is a horse lover’s dream come true.
The government has announced a new program to incentivize horse adoptions.
According to The U.S. Bureau of Land Management, the wild horse and burro population is high on fragile public rangelands and adoptions are low. The Wild Horse and Burro Adoption Incentive Program’s goal is to help balance the dynamic back to average.
People who qualify for the program will receive 500 dollars within 60 days of adopting their wild horse or burro, and another $500 within 60 days of officially titling the animal.
Under the incentive, adopter’s can adopt up to 4 untrained, untitled animals a year.
There is a $25 dollar application fee, but the incentive is available for all adoption eligible untrained animals, including animals at the government-owned corrals, off-site events and on the Online Corral.
