A price hike for postage stamps is the biggest in US Postal Service history.

The price of a First Class “forever” stamp is now 55 cents, a nickel higher than the previous 50 cent price.

The USPS says the price hike is needed to help close the nearly $4 billion net loss it sustained last year.

Any “Forever” stamps you already have are still valid and no extra postage will be required.
