MILWAUKEE (AP) — The mother of a 13-year-old Milwaukee girl who died when shots were fired into her home says her daughter “was everything this world is not.”
Authorities say Sandra Parks was sitting inside the home with family members around 8 p.m. Monday when the shooting happened. No other family members were hurt.
Bernice Parks said her daughter Sandra was not violent and did not like violence.
Police are trying to determine whether the shots that hit the Parks home Monday night were random or whether someone in the house was targeted. A 26-year-old man has been arrested.
Mayor Tom Barrett called Sandra’s death “part of the insanity” of gun violence in Milwaukee and elsewhere.
