CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Purple Door is making great strides to shine a light on domestic violence prevention. The non-profit has found a new way to do so all in a fun and safe way. Staff with the Purple Door are asking folks to get up and get active to help end domestic violence and it’s all part of their Month of Movement initiative.
“Everyone can do something to end domestic violence here in the Coastal Bend,” said Purple Door Prevention and Education Manager Erika Reyna-Brodhag.
So what do you need to do? Staff with the Purple Door say to find an activity you enjoy then take a selfie or a picture and lastly post the picture to your social media accounts while using the hashtags #preventionisaction and #monthofmovement. Staff says this type of awareness can get folks talking and can make an impact.
“It creates a safe way for them to get involved without alerting everyone around them like ‘I need that help’ you know it’s a safe confidential way to seek the services know that the Purple door is out there know what we do who we serve and our overall mission,” said Reyna-Brodhag.
Reyna-Brodhag also says the goal to get people talking and thinking about what else they can do to help end domestic violence.
“You know anyone who wants to reach out and make a difference, we’re ready and willing and available to provide that education,” said Reyna-Brodhag.
