CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Hot dog! The Oscar Mayer Hotdoggers and their Wienermobile has arrived in the Coastal Bend.

The 27-foot wiener on wheels arrived today at 2 p.m. and will be at the Art Museum of South Texas until 7 p.m. Friday.

The museum's marketing director Kirby Tello says a few hundred people have already shown up to see it, and the museum has been diligent about social distancing and mask-wearing.

"The entire purpose of the Wienermobile traveling around the country is to bring smiles to communities," says Tello. "Especially in these current times, smiles are something that brings back a sense of normalcy and lifts spirits. I spoke with visitors today who said this was the first time they had been out in nearly a year and it was exactly the kind of light, fun, and safe event that brought them immense joy."

The museum's event specialist, Amanda Horne, invited the Wienermobile to the museum and they responded with an immediate yes, according to Tello.

To ensure there is no shortage of Wienermobiles, according to it's website, there are six different Wienermobiles in the U.S. at all times.

The Wienermobile was first built in 1936 by Oscar Mayer's nephew Carl G. Mayer.
