CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — People who would be affected by the construction of the new Harbor Bridge were offered buyouts as part of the Hillcrest Washington Coles relocation program.
But was the program’s name misleading?
We’ve learned that much of the Washington-Coles area was outside the relocation program's boundaries.
People in this neighborhood have the construction site right out their windows and they say their homes and businesses are being shaken apart.
The buyout program was part of a four-party agreement between the city, TxDOT, the Port of Corpus Christi and the Federal Highway Administration.
So why was Washington Coles left out?
We’ll have more coming up this evening on KRIS 6 News.
According to a TxDOT spokesperson, the relocation boundaries were drawn by the Federal Highway Administration.
