CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — We are still following up on that standing pipe platform leak from Tuesday.
The platform is not currently showing any leaking. We have received an update from the United States Coast Guard, and this is what they have told us so far.
The vent with the leak has naturally stopped venting itself. The US Coast Guard says it is emitting only 5% of what it was yesterday.
As of now, the seas are still too rough to have any vessels make it to the platform.
The US Coast Guard said once the sea state dies down, they will get equipment to make their first assessments.
The smell of diesel fuel has also died down throughout the island.
We have reached out to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and we have yet to receive a response on the current air quality conditions.
