CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Reports from the Texas State Aquarium indicate its Wildlife Rescue Center took in nearly one-third of the sea turtles stranded alive in Texas last year.
A total of 278 sea turtles were transferred to the aquarium for rehabilitation efforts.
Most of the sea turtles were stranded due to strong winds and tides, while others were rescued due to cold-stunning.
It's part of an ongoing partnership with the Padre Island National Seashore Division of Sea Turtle Science and Recovery.
