CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Traffic stalled for a while along the freeway Friday afternoon after a trailer caught fire. Smoke could be seen for miles.

According to Corpus Christi Police, they received a call around 2 p.m. for a fire on TX-358 westbound just before the Paul Jones Avenue exit.

Police say a metal trailer carrying plywood and other items caught fire. The trailer detached from a moving vehicle and stalled at the top of the overpass.

Officers temporarily blocked off the right hand lane and the Flour Bluff on ramp while crews from the Corpus Christi Fire Department extinguished the fire.

No injuries have been reported. Officials did not say how the fire started or if anyone will be cited.
