CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Halloween weekend is near, and while COVID-19 may have changed the way festivities are held, the spooky spirit is still alive.
Socially distanced, family friendly events are happening all across the Coastal Bend this week leading up to Saturday Oct. 31. So grab a mask, your scariest costume and scroll through this list of events to enjoy the spooky holiday.
Quick Quack’s Haunted Car Wash
Quick Quack has found a way for visitors to hit two birds with one stone this All Hallow’s Eve. This holiday is nothing without a good scare, and for 19.99 you and your family can get your scare while getting your car clean! Enjoy this drive-thru event Wednesday Oct. 28-30 from 7 p.m to 9 p.m.
Texas State Aquarium’s “Boo in the Blue”
Grab a costume and your kiddos and experience the last week of ‘Boo in the Blue’ at the Texas State Aquarium. The event will have “spooky décor throughout the Aquarium, fun photo backgrounds, special unscheduled animal encounters, divers in costumes, a virtual costume contest, [and] candy on Saturday and Sunday”.
And parents rejoice! If your child is between the ages of 3 and 12 and wears a costume, you will get 50% off their ticket.
Drive-thru Halloween with the Hooks
Trick-or-treat with a cause. While you get candy from the comfort of your vehicle, you can give canned and dry food donations for those in need. On Saturday Oct. 31 from 1-4 p.m. at Whataburger Field, treats will be delivered from booth to booth right to your vehicle.
Whataburger Field will also be hosting a free spooky movie night on Oct. 29. They will be showing “The Addams Family” at 7 p.m. Gates will open at 5:30 and seats are on a first come, first serve basis. You must reserve your ticket in advance and fill out a health checklist before arriving to the field.
The Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History is bringing Halloween and science together for this scary fun event. On Saturday Oct. 31 from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. the museum will offer Halloween themed shows, games, trick or treating and of course science!
U.S.S. Lexington’s ‘Haunting on the Blue Ghost”
On Oct. 29 and Nov. 1 from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and all day on Oct. 29, the U.S.S. Lexington Museum will be hosting half hour sessions for groups of four to ten in their haunted house. Only a few sessions are left on Saturday and Sunday so sign up soon!
Red Dragon Pirate Cruise ‘Boo Bash’
Enjoy this Halloween out at sea… or at least off the bay. Costumes, spooky music and candy all while on a pirate ship is a recipe for family fun! There will be two trips on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. For more information call 361-749-2469.
Chick-fil-a drive-thru trick-or-treat
The Chick-fil-a on Staples and McArdle is hosting their very first Halloween drive-thru event. From 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. children dressed in costume will receive a special treat bag and there will be decorations, lights and guest appearances from some special characters.
Trunk or Treat Events
Aransas Pass
The city of Aransas Pass will be hosting their 5th annual trunk or treat event drive-thru style this year at Conn Brown Harbor on Oct. 31. Masks are required for all passengers in the vehicle and costumes are not required but encouraged. More info here.
Portland
From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31, the Northshore Country Club will have candy for the kiddos and decorated trunks provided by members of the community.
Refugio
The Refugio Police Department is hosting their annual ‘Trick or Treat Safe Zone’ from on Oct. 30 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This year treats will be passed out drive-thru style.
Robstown
From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 27, Nueces County Pct. 5 Constables will be meeting trick or treaters and passing out candy at the Johnny S. Calderon Building.
Kingsville
The Kingsville Police Department will hold their Project K.I.D.Z. Trunk or Treat event on Oct. 30 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This year it will be drive-thru style, so wear your scariest and silliest costumes and don’t forget to wear a mask!
