CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Budget Travel, a popular online travel publication, has included our very own Texas State Aquarium on their list of the world's best aquariums for people who want to "see more for less."

The local aquarium is no stranger to being on "best of" lists. According to their press release, they were also named a top-five aquarium by USA Today this year.

"The Texas State Aquarium was recognized for providing a “unique look” at animals of the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean, both through immersive exhibits like the new Caribbean Journey and with bonus experiences like Exclusive Encounters, where guests can explore behind the scenes and meet sloths, dolphins, and more," their press release says.

Besides the awesome look, layout, and fun at the Aquarium, they are also committed to wildlife conservation. This year they have rescued and rehabilitated 1,000 sea turtles for release, helped save endangered corals, and donated more than $100,000 to global conservation research programs around the world. Not to mention the countless children and adults who have walked the aquarium absorbing knowledge about wildlife conservation.

“We’re honored to be named as one of the best aquariums in the world by Budget Travel, especially since they considered how aquariums not only offer a glimpse into our oceans but play a critical role in supporting wildlife conservation and inspiring others to care for our planet,” said Tom Schmid, Texas State Aquarium President & CEO. "We also want our guests to know, that by visiting, they’re making an impact on wildlife conservation by supporting our animal care, wildlife rescue, and wildlife conservation programs.”
