TAMUCC named No. 1 'college by the sea'

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A college reviewing site compiled a top 50 list of the best seaside colleges in the U.S.. Texas A&M University Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) made the top of the list.

The list was published byBest College Reviews, an institution that is "dedicated to enabling aspiring students to make informed decisions on their path to academic success," according to their mission statement.

TAMUCC was first on the list, followed by UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, Eckerd College, and Florida Atlantic University. All top five colleges on the list are less than a mile from the Beach, but TAMUCC is the only college on its own island.

"Students at TAMU-CC have the benefit of studying in this prime vacation spot, where there are many opportunities for windsurfing, fishing, boating, or exploring more than 130,000 acres of beautiful, sandy beaches," Best College Reviews says.

The article also mentions the culture of the city and some of academic offerings available at the school.

"The Port of Corpus Christi is the nation's sixth largest port by tonnage, and is home to the Beach to Bay relay marathon, the Texas Jazz Festival, and the Festival of the Arts," their article says. "TAMU-CC is part of the larger Texas A&M University system and offers 41 undergraduate majors, 32 graduate programs, and 7 doctoral programs."
