TAMU-CC and partial bay area without power

UPDATE: AEP said power has been restored and the cause of the power outage was due to a vehicle hitting a utility pole and causing a domino effect.

The Corpus Christi Bay area is currently experiencing a power outage. AEP Texas says the power outage occured around 4:30 p.m. affecting 3,700 customers. Crews have been deployed but a cause is still unknown.

Texas A&M University Corpus Christi is under a code blue and has advised students to go to a well lit area if they are feeling unsafe.

After the power outage, a traffic map displays traffic backups are starting to become an issues at intersections surrounding the University.

Around 5 pm Thursday, TAMU-CC Issued another message stating they expect the power to be restored by 6 pm Thursday. Any classes scheduled to start at 5: 30 or 5:50 pm Thursday will begin at 6 pm Thursday.
