The Corpus Christi Police Department's SWAT Team will be conducting emergency response training tonight.

The exercise is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m., after the mall has closed for business, and is expected to last until 2:30 a.m. Friday morning.

People in the area shouldn't be alarmed if they hear loud noises resembling gunshots coming from La Palmera Mall.

CCPD will be posting signs in the areas of the training sessions.

Police said the training is necessary to stay prepared in the case of an active shooter.
