MATHIS, Texas — A chase involving a suspect, considered armed and dangerous, delayed the start of classes this morning in the Mathis school district.
The chase began around 1 a.m. and involved a man identified as 41-year-old Kevin Dunn.
The suspect was wanted on outstanding warrants for aggravated assault on a peace officer and evading arrest.
Dunn got away but the vehicle he was in was found abandoned down the street from a Mathis ISD school.
So the district took action.
In a post on the district's Facebook page, the district announced classes would be delayed by two hours and buses would be running two hours late.
Dunn was eventually spotted walking along some railroad tracks along FM 666 and Interstate 37.
He surrendered and was arrested, a firearm was recovered at the scene.
Dunn is being held at the Nueces County Jail on a $60,000 bond.
