CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Starbucks has confirmed to KRIS Communications that the company is building a location on Padre Island, at the corner of Park Road 22 and Aquarius Street.
A representative for the company said it plans to employ 30 people at the location, which is due to open in the summer, and will have an outdoor patio
"We are thrilled to offer members of the community a place to gather and enjoy the views of Corpus Christi Bay," the spokesperson said in an email.
The city's newest Starbucks location will directly compete with Island Joe's, the largest coffeehouse on the island, which is locally owned.
Including locations at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi University, Target and Barnes & Noble, Starbucks currently has eight locations in Corpus Christi.
