CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Some local elementary students were able to shop with their own personal Santa Claus at the Greenwood Walmart this morning.
These Santas wore police uniforms.
The “Shop with a Cop"program once again paired up students with police officers to go on a holiday shopping spree.
Thirty-eight students were selected through an application process from Windsor Park and Allen elementary schools to participate today.
“We try to make sure the child has at least $100 to $125 to spend so that they can buy their clothes and shoes, school clothes, necessities, some hygiene stuff, and hopefully a luxury item like a toy,” said Tara Mylett, executive director of “Shop with a Cop.”
The program is funded through donations and sponsorships with groups in the community.
Nearly 560 kids will take part in :”Shop with a Cop” event this holiday season across the Coastal Bend.
